About the Lipedema Surgery Center

Founder of the Lipedema Surgery Center, Dr. Marcia V. Byrd, has over thirty years of experience in liposuction and body-sculpting techniques, including lymph-sparing WAL (Water-Assisted Liposuction) and PAL (Power-Assisted Liposuction) techniques. For the last 15 years, she has dedicated this practice to only treating lipedema patients.

In 2024, Dr. Jovanni Blackman joined the practice as a partner. She trained under Dr. Byrd, on how to do lipedema surgery using her own developed techniques. Dr. Blackmon has over 21 years of surgical experience.

Now you have 2 surgeons who can consult with you, diagnose your lipedema condition, and perform your surgery.

How to Choose a Lipedema Surgeon

 

Expertise: Each of our surgeons have advanced knowledge of the lymphatic system.

Insurance: Their office has an insurance coordinator who can help you with obtaining insurance.

Techniques: Dr. Byrd and Dr. Blackmon use (WAL) Water-Assisted Liposuction, (PAL) Power-Assisted Liposuction and Vaser Ultra-sound technology.

Experience: Dr. Byrd and Dr. Blackmon only treat lipedema patients. They have dedicated their practice to helping ladies with this debilitating disease. Together, they have performed over 15,000 lipedema surgeries.
